Ayue Juman is a sculptor from Tambunan, Sabah. She received formal training in sculpture at UiTM Sarawak and UiTM Shah Alam, and was raised in a family of local craft makers. This early exposure to traditional skills and cultural practices continues to shape both her artistic identity and direction.
Working primarily with rattan, Ayue explores the material’s natural flexibility and strength to create sculptural forms that bridge local identity with contemporary artistic expression. Her works have been presented in various group exhibitions and are held in both local and international collections.
Opening on 20 December 2025, Coexistence marks Ayue Juman’s first solo exhibition, presented at Ruang Tamu Ekosistem. The exhibition reflects on a living ecology formed through the interconnected relationships between women, nature, and community. Visitors are invited to experience the dynamic energy of her sculptural works and to engage with the processes, ideas, and narratives behind this debut presentation.
In a world that often separates humans from nature, Coexistence seeks to restore what has been divided. The rattan that wraps and weaves is not merely form, but a quiet manifesto — one that speaks of women’s strength and of a living ecology sustained through relationships between humans, nature, and community.
Through this body of work, Ayue Juman amplifies voices that are seldom given space. Nature is not a resource, and women are not a burden — both are forces that sustain life and ensure that the future can continue to be inherited.
This exhibition also marks the first solo exhibition by a woman artist presented at Ruang Tamu Ekosistem. Everyone is warmly invited to experience the powerful works of this emerging artist.
